Kevlar is perhaps the strongest invisible thread used in magic today.  For magical levitations it has mostly replaced the traditional wooly nylon.

It comes as a thick bundle of strands. A single one of these strands must be "stripped out".  The ends are secured using a variety of methods such as putty, wax, or tape.  Working with a white background helps a great deal when preparing your invisible thread!
